Railroad spike knives have an infamous reputation in the bladesmithing community. Everyone has made one, but nobody really wants to call it a knife. While it may be true that even, “high carbon” spikes are not what one would consider blade steel, these novelty items make perfectly functional steak knives and represent a unique nostalgia for the days when the railroad was king.
